I happened to have a chance to go home to attend the 2008 Fiesta Celebration in the town where i was born Maripipi, Biliran and I was very excited because after 12 or 13 years, I will see again my old friends and of course my hometown. I left in Manila on September 28 at 430AM, arrived in Tacloban around 6AM, waited for an hour for a trip bound to Naval Biliran. I arrived in Naval at 10AM. I felt tired and exhausted so I decided to checked in at TJ Pensionne House near downtown of Naval. I texted Jun Bonifacio if what time we will leave in Naval going to Kawayan and then Kawayan going to Maripipi and he replied around 5PM and so i slept for about 3 hours and when I woke up, I ate my lunch and take the chance to have a sightseeing in Naval.
Naval, Biliran was changed. I’ve seen new infrastructures. Among them are the port area, public gym, municipal hall, and there are lot of internet cafes already. I’ve seen also new restaurants in downtown. Streets are busy because their fiesta was moved to October 4 from the original date January, i forgot the exact date.
At around 4PM we took a jeep going to Kawayan. It’s an hour trip and when we arrived at Kawayan we took a special trip going to Maripipi. It costs 400 pesos. Not bad for 20 minutes trip. The weather is fine and the sea is calm.
During the Vesperas night, me and Jun B. visited Jingle’s house and we stayed for about 2-3 hours. We have a good time at Jingle’s house… there are lot’s of beers and pulutan, and the most interesting topic we’ve chatted is why at the age of 30+ Jingle (Paul Noel Gaviola) still single. I think he is enjoying of being like that. No hassles!
After that we proceed to Plaza to watch the Vesperas Program. No offense.. Gutiay la an tawo, or maybe we’re just too late.. nanguli na siguro an iba. I haven’t seen prominent visitors. What have changed is there is a covered basketball court already and… didto san amon gindadalusan nga vacant lot when i was on my grade 6th, mayda na building. So no more place for vendors in the plaza. Well, on my age.. i haven’t seen a town Read the rest…
